John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions through his songs of pop-folk and many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles after performing with smaller folk groups. It was co-written by and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff had Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver discovered that it was destined to turn into a hit once he heard an earlier version. Just a few days after the performance to a throng of fans in Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
